Permissions explained
macOS asks before any app may use sensitive features. Here is what onestation asks for, why, and where to change each one.
At a glance#
| Permission | Used for | Needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Accessibility | The double-tap ⌥ shortcut in every app | Recommended |
| Notifications | Banners when an agent needs you | Recommended |
| Microphone & Speech | Dictating to Talk and replies | For voice |
| Screen Recording | Attaching your screen to a Talk request | Optional |
| Files & Folders | Prompts your agents trigger, not onestation | Per agent |
| Local Network | Direct connections on your own network | Optional |
You can review every one of them later in onestation
Accessibility#
Lets the Talk shortcut (double-tap ⌥ by default) work while another app is in front. onestation does not read or control other apps’ windows with it.
System Settings
If onestation is already on but the shortcut does nothing, select it, remove it with –, add it again with + from Applications, then quit and reopen onestation.
Notifications#
Banners for new questions, finished work and stuck agents. Sounds play either way.
System Settings
Microphone & Speech Recognition#
Only needed when you dictate. macOS asks for both the first time you press the microphone. Recognition runs on your Mac; see Voice privacy.

Shortcut: onestation
Screen Recording#
Optional. Only used when you turn on screen context, so Talk can attach the part of your screen you select. Nothing is captured otherwise, and a cancelled capture sends nothing.
System Settings
Files & Folders prompts#
When an agent reads or writes in Documents, Desktop or Downloads, macOS asks first, for example “claude” would like to access files in your Documents folder. These prompts belong to your agent or terminal, not to onestation. Allow them when it is your agent at work.
Review or undo a choice in System Settings
Local Network#
Only needed if you connect a phone or machines directly over your own network or tailnet. Phone pairing through the onestation relay works without it.

Permissions reset after an update?#
macOS ties permissions to the app’s signature and location. If you moved or replaced the app, remove onestation from the affected list and add it again. See Troubleshooting.
